Calzaghe Awarded CBE
Then Promptly Announces He Is Ducking Pavlik By William Trillo British boxing legend Joe Calzaghe has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list announced yesterday.
That came around the same time Joe made
an announcement of his own in regard to a proposed super
fight with Middleweight Kelly Pavlik, "I think it's
unlikely," Calzaghe told the South Wales Argus. "I'm not
sure if Pavlik really wants to face me at the moment. He
would have little to gain because I believe I would
definitely beat him.
On the CBE Award Calzaghe said, "The
award came completely out of the blue and for the first time
in my life I was knocked out!"
Keep fighting 40 something year old men
Joe and you may keep that zero KO string alive.
"It's unbelievable when I think back to
when I was a kid that one day I would have achieved so much
through boxing, and to think my teachers laughed at me when
I said I was going to be a boxer," said Calzaghe.
Joe, keep ducking all the top fighters
and they may start laughing again.
